Is Canva Pro Worth It for a Solo Creator? A $144-a-Year Check
Count the Pro features you would use every month before you pay for a year.
Canva Pro is worth it when you use at least one Pro-only feature every week, usually background removal, Magic Resize, or brand kits. If you only make an occasional graphic from free templates, Free is enough.
What Pro adds over Free
On a narrow screen, swipe the table sideways to see every column.
| Feature | Free | Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $0 | $144/year (1 person) |
| Cloud storage | 5GB | 100GB |
| Brand Kits | 1 | 5 |
| Premium photos, video, graphics, audio | 4.7M+ free items | 141M+ items |
| Background remover, Magic Resize, CMYK print export, social scheduling | No | Yes |
| Premium AI uses | 20 | 200 |
The weekly-use test
$144 a year is about $2.77 a week. Write down the Pro features you would have used last week. If removing backgrounds or resizing one design into several formats saves you more than a few minutes each week, Pro pays for itself in time. If the list is empty, stay on Free and revisit in a month.
Before you pay for a year
- Use Canva’s Pro trial for a normal working week rather than a test project.
- Check whether a tool you already pay for (for example an Adobe plan) already covers the same job.
- Canva Teams is no longer offered to new sign-ups, so price Pro for one person.
